Housing and Dining

Recent census data revealed that approximately 60% of housing in the city of Ithaca is rental property; housing options are varied and you’re sure to find something that will suit you. Graduate students can arrange housing through the university, which maintains two apartment complexes designated solely for graduate students or students with families. Both complexes are located directly adjacent to campus and feature several accommodation arrangements. There are several other university-owned graduate housing options; to learn more visit http://housing.cornell.edu.

If you prefer to live in an apartment of house off-campus, you will find typical apartment complexes, townhouses, or an ample selection of apartments created by subdividing many of Ithaca’s beautiful old houses. You can begin your search by looking at Cornell’s off-campus housing guide and listing service (accessed through the link above), or scan listings in the Cornell Daily Sun or the Ithaca Journal.

Cornell Dining provides food for over 30 eateries on campus and has won many national awards for the quality of its dining services. Even if you don’t choose to sign up for a formal meal plan (which is not required), you will almost certainly find yourself eating lunch or grabbing a snack on campus most days between classes.
