Bio
Professor Becker is Director of the International Workplace Studies Program (IWSP), and Co-Director of the Design Concepts Laboratory (DCL). The IWSP research focuses on innovative workplace strategies that leverage the scarce reources of people, space, technology, and finance to strengthen organizations’ competitive advantage.
The Design Concepts Laboratory extends the boundaries of traditional academic research programs by including, but going beyond, evaluation research and the exploration of relationships between how facilities are planned, designed, and managed and their impact on individuals, teams, and the organization as a whole. The DCL seeks to develop innovative design concepts for processes, products and environments that can be systematically tested and refined. Two major research themes are Workscape 21 and Healthscape 21. Workscape 21 focuses on offices and the workplace of professionals and service workers. Healthscape 21 focuses on facilities and facility systems intended to improve health and well-being.
