Cornell Real Estate Review Names Assistant Editors

The Cornell Real Estate Review has named Ankoor Jivan PRE ‘11, Doug Solinsky PRE ’11, and Richard Weidel III PRE ‘11 as assistant editors for the 2009-10 academic year.  Jivan has degrees in real estate, finance, and international business from the University of South Carolina, where he graduated magna cum laude.  He brings two years of experience in real estate.  After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy, Solinsky became an infantry officer in the Marine Corps, where one of his additional duties was writing historical summaries for his command.  He also has five years of experience in real estate sales, leasing and property management.  Weidel has completed two real estate internships and graduated from Cornell this year with a degree in economics.  He co-authored (with Professor Peng Liu) an article that was published in the May 2009 Review.  The new assistant editors will be joining co-editors Chris Haine PRE ’10 and Brett Mendell PRE ‘10, along with Review staff member Nathan Guest.

“We are very pleased to add Ankoor, Rich, and Doug to the Review staff.  We have also strengthened the staff with the addition of Nathan Guest.” said David Funk, Program in Real Estate Director, adding “As former assistant editors, Chris and Brett have set very high standards for the position.” The Assistant Editor position is a high-profile graduate assistantship.  The editors’ finished product is crucial to promoting the Program in Real Estate.  Assignments include writing, editing, and soliciting content for publication in the annual Real Estate Review, the semi-annual PREview newsletter, and PRE website.

The Cornell Real Estate Review was founded in 2002 as a student-managed publication to draw attention to relevant real estate topics, both in academia and the workplace, through its annual publication.  The journal seeks original work by industry professionals, faculty, and students for publication.  The next Cornell Real Estate Review will be published in Spring 2010, and will be posted online shortly after publication.  Past editions are available for free as well as through the Cornell University Library system, and can also be accessed via the “archive” tab on the Cornell PRE website at: http://crer.realestate.cornell.edu/index/php/home.  If you would like to be added to the Review mailing and circulation list, have any ideas for next year’s editorial staff, or simply would like to learn more about publishing in the Review, please e-mail the staff directly at: crer@cornell.edu.
