27th Annual CREC Conference

Arrangements are almost complete for the 27th Annual Cornell Real Estate Conference in New York City on October 1 and 2 at the J.P. Morgan Chase Conference Center in lower Manhattan.  Conference planning chair David Rupert has lined up an exciting roster of speakers and panelists.  If you have not done so, now is the time to register at http://realestate.cornell.edu/conference

Pre conference events begin on Thursday, October 1, and include a daylong Career Summit addressing career trends and strategies in the m midst of turmoil and transition and the Select Leaders/Cornell Job Barometer Report.

The main portion of the conference will get underway at 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 1, with a reception followed by a dinner, including keynote remarks by Wesley R. Edens, Founder and Co-Chairman of Fortress Investment Group. 

On Friday, October 2, there will be a 7:00 AM breakfast followed by a presentation by Peter Baccile of J. P. Morgan Securities who will set-the-stage for the balance of the day. 

The first morning panel will focus on the condition of capital markets with comments from Michael Carp, Director & Regional Head of Americas, GIC Real Estate, Steve LeBlanc, Senior Managing Director, TRS, Robert Booth, CEO North America, Emaar, Ethan Penner, President and Founder, CBRE Capital Partners and John R. Klopp, CEO, Capital Trust, Inc.  Later in the morning, we will hear commentary on the residential from Robert Toll, Chairman & CEO of Toll Brothers and Arthur Margon, Partner, Rosen Consulting Group.

At Friday’s luncheon, Ann Kenyon of Deloitte & Touche will address the question of whether the Government is going to help or hinder commercial real estate. 

Friday afternoon will feature a wide-ranging discussion of workouts foreclosures and opportunistic investing.  Panelists include Edmond A. Kavounas, Chairman & CEO, Rockwood Capital LLC, Russel S. Bernard, managing Principal, Westport Capital Partners LLC, Adam S. Metz, CEO, General Growth Properties, Marcia L. Goldstein, Chair of the Business Finance & Restructuring Group, Weil, Gotshal & Manges.

The conference will conclude with a reception beginning at 3:30 PM on Friday afternoon.
