Getting There and Getting Around
Ithaca is approximately four hours by car from New York City, Philadelphia, and Toronto; another hour or two on the road gets you to Boston, Cleveland, or Washington, D.C. Within an hour’s drive are the cities of Syracuse and Binghamton, the Finger Lakes wine district, the Watkins Glen auto racing circuit, and the Corning Glass Works.

By bus, Greyhound Bus Lines provides Ithaca with frequent service to rail connections, most major North American cities, and many towns. ShortLine Bus Company also provides service between Ithaca and the rest of New York State and the Northeast. By plane, USAirways and Continental Airlines serve Tompkins County Airport. Limousines, taxis, and rental cars are available at the airport, which is a ten-minute drive from Cornell. In addition, most major airlines serve the Syracuse international airport, an hour-and-a-quarter drive north of Ithaca.
