The spring 2008 Real Estate Industry Seminar series kicks off this Thursday with a visit from Stephan Lauzier, new head of Cornell’s real estate department. The Real Estate Department at Cornell is responsible for the acquisition, sale, leasing, and development of all Cornell's real property assets, which includes over 730 real estate interests located in 23 states and 3 foreign countries.

Mr. Lauzier comes to Cornell from Cal Poly Pomona, where he was responsible for starting a university research park – Innovation Village – from a 65-acre underutilized farm site. At the time of his departure from Cal Poly Pomona, Innovation Village had completed a three-building, 52,000 sq. ft. incubator complex; become the regional headquarters for American Red Cross’ Biomedical Services; and completed a new facility for Johnson & Johnson.

Also while at Cal Poly Pomona, Mr. Lauzier initiated an affordable housing program for faculty and staff employees to enhance recruiting and retention efforts of the university. Prior to directing Cal Poly Pomona’s real estate activities he worked with the Mission Viejo Company on a number of master-planned community projects.

Mr. Lauzier earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Regis College.
