The Cornell Real Estate Industry seminar features Frank Apeseche, CEO & President, and Dan Stravinski, SVP-Human Resources, for Berkshire Property Advisors this Thursday.  Their appearance in seminar is the conclusion to a week-long executives-in-residence stay at Cornell where they have presented a three-part case on managing the real estate enterprise focused on strategy, performance management, and compensation, respectively, over three lectures as well as hosted roundtables and interviewed for internship and permanent placements.  Berkshire Property Advisors focuses on value-added investments in the multifamily real estate industry.  Since the company’s inception in 1969, Berkshire has sponsored over 30 multifamily investment portfolios including two discretionary, institutional multifamily value funds, two publicly traded REITs, and multiple joint venture relationships with some of the most prominent real estate investors in the world. Berkshire delivers a complete range of integrated investment and management services, including acquisition, redevelopment, property management, asset management, finance and portfolio management services.

Mr. Apeseche’s role with Berkshire includes responsibility for the company’s strategy and its execution-oriented culture.  He holds a BA from Cornell, earned his MBA at the University of Michigan, and is a member of the Cornell Real Estate Council as well as an executive board member of the National Multi-Family Housing Council.  Mr. Stravinski, also a Cornell alumnus, is responsible for all aspects of the human side of Berkshire’s business.  Over the course of his 30-year career in human resources he has led HR staffs as large as 20 individuals, and is recognized as an expert in performance management, human resource information systems, and compensation and benefits.  Seminar will present part III of the Rebuilding Advent Partners case series and focus on compensation within a real estate performance management structure, and will include prepared comments from Mr. Apeseche and Mr. Stravinski as well as student reaction to the case.
