Investing in Distressed Debt

After obtaining a BS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University in 1982, Marty Goldin received an MBA in Finance from Pace University in 1984.  Beginning in 1982, Marty worked at various technically oriented jobs.  He purchased his first building in 1987 in Fort Greene in Brooklyn, NY.  In 1989, the entrepreneurial spirit took hold and he left full time employment for others to start his own real estate management company known as Goldin Management, Inc.  Through the years that the management company has grown (now managing close to 2,000 units in over 80 buildings), Marty has invested in various below-the-radar real estate projects from co-op flips to brownstone rehabs to distressed debt, adapting as market conditions have changed.  Working under the name The Goldin Group, Marty and his partners have invested in several million dollars of distressed debt secured by real estate of various property types located in 16 different states.  Marty lives and works in Park Slope in Brooklyn, has three children, a wife and no dog.
