Jon Minikes is a private investor and consultant with more than 40 years of real estate expertise. From 1991 to 2001, he was the President and CEO of Milstein Brothers Realty Investors, a real estate investment firm which acts as a consultant and principal in entrepreneurial real property and other related investments including the ownership of various hotels, and consultant to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in the privatization of the World Trade Center.
Before 1991, Mr. Minikes was a Managing Director of Sentinel Real Estate Corporation, a billion dollar asset management company investing on behalf of pension funds and individual investors. In that role, among other responsibilities, he acted as a real estate consultant to Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.) Inc. Prior to joining Sentinel, Mr. Minikes was a Managing Director of Jones Lang Wootton (JLW) where, he specialized in real estate investments in the United States on behalf of European and Far Eastern institutions. In this role, he was responsible for the opening of JLW’s Tokyo office and was the consultant to Japan Air Lines Development (U.S.A.), Inc. on the development of Nikko Hotels in Chicago and Atlanta. Mr. Minikes’ experience also includes positions as Assistant General Counsel and Vice President of The Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, heading up the Society’s Joint Venture Coordination and Sales Department; Vice President of C.I. Planning Corporation, advising a real estate investment trust in its investments; Vice President of Uris Buildings Corporation, investment builders; and a practicing attorney at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton, specializing in international law and real estate.
He served for six years as a member of the Manhattan Community Board and as a Director of the Association for a Better New York. Mr. Minikes also taught real estate joint ventures at New York University and served on the Real Property Law and Immigration Law Committees of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He served as a First Lieutenant in the U. S. Army. He is a member of the Cornell University Council, the Cornell Real Estate Council, and assists in the Council’s graduate Program in Real Estate. Mr. Minikes graduated from Cornell University with an A.B. in 1960, received a J.D. from the Cornell Law School in 1962, and received an L.L.M. in International Law from the New York University School of Law in 1965.
