The Cornell Real Estate Industry Seminar welcomes John J. Cuticelli, Jr., CEO of Sheldon Good & Co., to campus as the featured speaker on Thursday, April 8, 2010.
Mr. Cuticelli’s investment firm, Racebrook Marketing Concepts, LLC, acquired Sheldon Good & Co., out of bankruptcy in July 2009. Since then, he has been fully engaged in the strategic direction and day-to-day management of the famous real estate auction firm.
Mr. Cuticelli has been active in real estate acquisition, development, redevelopment and lending activities since 1974 and has directed the acquisition, development, redevelopment, financing and sale of in excess of $10 billion of commercial, residential and retail real estate transactions. Prior to co-founding Racebrook Capital, LLC and acting as its CEO, Mr. Cuticelli served as Chief Operating Officer of Max Capital Management Corp., where he was responsible for all aspects of new business development and operations.
Previously, Mr. Cuticelli served as Chief Operating Officer of GFI Capital Resources Group, a full service real estate company and a licensed mortgage banking institution, where he revamped the company’s operations and acquired additional, complementary businesses. During the preceding four years, Mr. Cuticelli served as a Senior Managing Director at Essex Capital Partners, a real estate development company, where he directed the firm’s investment and financial structuring activities. From 1991 to 1999 Mr. Cuticelli held senior management positions at HSBC Holdings/US Concord, where he ran HSBC’s entire $3 billion balance sheet of non-performing North American commercial mortgage loans, achieving over $1 billion of recoveries, and ran US Concord’s entire $6 billion distressed lease portfolio, achieving in excess of $450 million of recoveries. From 1986 to 1991, Mr. Cuticelli liquidated CityTrust Bancorp, a $2.5 billion commercial bank. He has also held senior management positions at Marine Midland Bank and Sheldon Good & Co.
