The Cornell Real Estate Industry Seminar welcomes John B. Hynes, III, Managing Partner of Boston Global Partners, to campus as the featured speaker on Friday, April 2, 2010. This special industry seminar session takes place in connection with the 2010 Case Studies in Urban Development (CSUD) symposium that begins on Friday afternoon and continues on Saturday, April 3.  While attendance on Saturday is not mandatory for Program in Real Estate students, the sessions concerning new city development in Korea promise to be interesting. Mr. Hynes is CEO and Managing Partner of Boston Global Investors (BGI), a full service real estate development company based in Boston, Massachusetts. He has been involved in the real estate business for 30 years, beginning as a broker and then as a developer. Currently, BGI is developing One Franklin Street, a $500 million, 38-story, one million square foot mixed-use tower in the heart of Boston and Seaport Square, a $3 billion, 6.5 million square foot mixed-use project facing Boston Harbor. BGI is also a major shareholder, cofounder with Gale International, and development partner in the New Songdo City project in South Korea, a massive, $30 billion, 100 million square foot master-planned city in Incheon. Prior to these projects, Mr. Hynes developed the one million square foot State Street Financial Center tower and the 500,000 square foot 101 Arch Street tower in Boston. As a broker for ten years, he participated in hundreds of leasing and sales transactions with an aggregate of 6 million square feet of activity.
