CEO of Prudential Real Estate Investors
The Cornell Real Estate Industry seminar welcomes J. Allen Smith, CEO of Prudential Real Estate Investors (PREI), to campus this Thursday. A 20-year veteran with Prudential, Mr. Smith was recently promoted from his position as head of PREI’s US operations to leading the broad range of investment opportunities and investment management services that PREI employs in the US, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. During his distinguished career at Prudential he has held positions in portfolio management, asset management, equity research, corporate finance, strategic planning, and administration. Before Prudential, Smith worked as an assistant to the chief financial officer of the Wyndham Hotel Company.
Allen is a two-time Cornell graduate with a BS in Sociology and a master’s degree from the School of Hotel Administration. He is a member of PREA, ULI, and serves on the Program in Real Estate Advisory Board. Mr. Smith’s comments in seminar will focus on a range of topics in real estate finance and investment management, including discussion of real estate investment in the current environment.
