RE Seminar: Fred Leiblich and Elysia Tse

The Cornell Real Estate Industry seminar welcomes Fred Leiblich, head of real estate for BlackRock, and Elysia Tse (MPS/Real Estate 2001), VP and member of the real estate equity group, to campus as featured speakers in the Cornell Real Estate Industry seminar this Thursday. Their remarks will provide an inside look at the BlackRock investment platform, the responsibilities of the real estate team, and client sentiment and investment strategies.

Mr. Lieblich, as Global Chief Investment Officer of the real estate business, is responsible for portfolio management, transactions, investment strategy and research. He is a member of BlackRock's Leadership and Operating Committees, and the Chairman of the Global Investment Committee. Mr. Lieblich's service with the firm dates back to 1984, including his years with SSR Realty Advisors, which merged with BlackRock in 2005. At SSR, he was the President and Chief Executive Officer involved in portfolio and investment strategy, acquisitions, financing, asset management, and dispositions. Beginning in 1991, he spent three years co-managing MetLife's $11 billion global real estate equity portfolio.

Mr. Lieblich is a member of National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries, Pension Real Estate Association and National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers. Mr. Lieblich wrote the chapter, "Real Estate Portfolio Management Process," for the Handbook of Real Estate Investment Management (Irwin, 1995). In addition, he co-authored the chapter, "Real Estate Investments," for the Pensions Investments Handbook, edited by Ibbotson Associates (Panel Publications, 1996). Mr. Lieblich received a BS degree in finance from the University of Illinois in 1983 and an MBA degree in finance and international business from the University of Chicago in 1990.

Ms. Tse is part of the team in developing the global investment strategy and conducting global real estate market and risk analyses. She also specializes in the U.S. and Asia-Pacific investment strategies. Prior to joining BlackRock in 2006, Ms. Tse was a Vice President of Citigroup Property Investors. At Citigroup, she worked in the global investment research and strategy group where she provided research expertise and conclusions to investment teams, focusing on the Asia investment strategy. Prior to Citigroup, Ms. Tse held a Vice President position at LaSalle Investment Management focusing on the U.S. real estate market and specializing in the U.S. office market and also led the Chicago-based research and strategy team. Prior to earning her Masters degree in Real Estate from Cornell University in 2001 she received a Bachelors degree in Economics from Xiamen University in 1998.
