RE Seminar: Bill Pringle

Date: April 14, 2011
When: 4:30 – 6:30 pm
Where: Beck 198

The Real Estate Industry Seminar scheduled for April 14, 2011, features W.J. “Bill Pringle”, Executive Chairman of Bordeaux Developments. He will share experience drawn from more than three decades in construction and real estate development during which he has worked on construction sites, served as a corporate executive and, more recently, been a development entrepreneur.

In 2001, after a career at the highest levels of corporate real estate, Bill decided he wanted to pursue a more entrepreneurial path, and founded Bordeaux, together with Harry Denger, Birol Fisekci and Jerry Hennig. Bill has been in the construction and real estate development business for 35 years, first as a framer and in concrete high rise forming, followed by auditing Calgary’s premier residential development company in the 1970’s. His career in the 1980’s was focused on shopping centre development, management and financing. In the first half of the 1990’s he was CFO, then President and CEO, of Canada’s largest office building company (Brookfield). Since March of 1994 Bill has focused his energy on the residential development business, first with Brookfield leading their residential development operations in the United States and Toronto as President and CEO (sales of 2,500 homes and 5,000 lots per year).

In founding Bordeaux, Bill’s goal from the beginning was to build a significant company that was prudently managed and structured to continue its service to its employees, investors, customers and community over a long period of time. He is an admirer of the employee ownership model that has allowed companies like PCL to prosper for over 100 years and that Bordeaux has emulated. He also looks back on the merger with Harry Denger’s company, Baywest Homes, as the key move that gave Bordeaux the platform to grow from. His role with Bordeaux is financial in nature, with key emphasis on ensuring legal agreements protect Bordeaux’s partners and investors and treat them fairly, financial arrangements that emphasize risk management and the stewardship of the important resources (homes and land) that Bordeaux has carriage of.

Mr. Pringle also oversees compensation and ownership programs that treat our employees and investors fairly and helping the company’s leaders find new opportunities. He is also active in the community engagement initiatives of the Company.

Mr. Pringle is a chartered accountant and is actively involved with his family of 5 and his community. He finds his volunteer work with the United Way especially rewarding.
