The Cornell Program in Real Estate welcomes Phillip, Joshua, and James Eisenberg to the Real Estate Industry Seminar this Thursday, April 12, to provide a case study in workforce housing. Father Phil, CEO of Urban American, and sons Josh, general counsel, and James, president of Urban American Development, represent the leadership of a fast-growing New Your and New Jersey real estate company specializing in the acquisition, renovation, management, and disposition of workforce multifamily properties. Phil founded Urban American in 1997 following a law career as partner at the New York firm of Javits, Trubin, Sillocks, Edelman & Knapp. He received his Bachelor of Arts from New York University, and a Juris Doctorate from Cornell Law School where he was an Editor of the Law Review.

Joshua, also a Cornell Law graduate, joined Urban American in 2004 and is responsible for the legal aspects for all real estate acquisitions, sales and financing. He also serves as liaison to outside counsel and supervises corporate governance and compliance. Prior to joining Urban American in 2004, Joshua practiced law first at Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner, LLP, and then at Heller Ehrman, LLP. He holds a Bachelor of Science in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University, and was editor of the International Law Review while at Cornell.

James is responsible for the physical operations, maintenance and rehabilitation of all Urban American properties and portfolios, and oversees a team of specialized and highly qualified Property and Project Managers as well as other maintenance, contracting and support personnel. Prior to joining Urban American in 2002, James was a Captain in the United States Army. An artillery officer and Army Ranger, James served with distinction in the 101st Airborne Division and the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea. He has a Bachelor of Science in City and Regional Planning and a Master’s degree in Real Estate, both from Cornell University.
