The Cornell Real Estate Industry seminar welcomes Rene Tremblay and David Smith, President/CEO and VP-Human Resources for Ivanhoe Cambridge, respectively, to campus this Thursday.

Tremblay, Ivanhoe’s President since 1995, is a member of the firm’s board of directors and also sits on the board of Simon Ivanhoe, a European subsidiary of Ivanhoe Cambridge, and on the board of The Real Estate Roundtable. In addition, in May 2007, he was elected worldwide Chair of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) for a one-year term. A specialist in the shopping centre sector, Mr. Tremblay received his undergraduate degree from Université Laval in Quebec City.

David Smith
Vice President, Human Resources
Ivanhoe Cambridge

Mr. Smith has worked in a variety of HR capacities for Ivanhoe Cambridge since 1990, and he is also a member of the Management and Retirement Committees. Prior to 1990, Mr. Smith worked for various companies, including Colgate Palmolive, as Human Resources Planning Manager from 1987 to 1990 and Husky Injection Moldings as Recruitment Manager from 1984 to 1987. Mr. Smith earned a Master of Arts degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Western Ontario in 1982, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from Western in 1979. Mr. Smith received a Certified Human Resources Professional designation from the University of Toronto and attended the Wharton Human Resources Business School Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
