The Program in Real Estate welcomes Margot Weinstein to the Cornell Real Estate Industry seminar this Thursday. Dr. Weinstein, noted author of “Commercial Real Estate Education and Resource Guide (2006)” and “7 Steps to Find Your Perfect Career,” brings her commercial real estate experience and leadership research to what promises to be a dynamic seminar and workshop around real estate leadership and career development.

Dr. Weinstein is vice-president of the Kingston Group, Inc., a commercial real estate company. She earned her Ph.D in Human Resource Development and Real Estate from Northern Illinois University in 1998; her doctoral research focused on leadership styles and practices evinced by some of the real estate industry’s leading business people including Sam Zell, Barbara Corcoran, and Dale Anne Reis.

In 2001, Dr. Weinstein founded MW Leadership Consultants as a platform for sharing professional development and leadership programs for others. In that capacity, she has spoken and taught throughout the U.S., Europe, and China, and has published over 80 articles ranging from scholarly to business-oriented. Dr. Weinstein’s leadership research was adapted into a collaborative paper with professors from Loyola Marymount University titled “How CEO’s of Real Estate Companies Like to Learn,” which won the 2006 Award for best academic manuscript in education by the American Real Estate Society (ARES).

Dr. Weinstein’s passion for helping others is central to her career. ”My prescription for happiness is: First, find your unique talents and your passions. Next, learn from stories of how others in your field became successful. Then, work hard to perfect your talents while enjoying your journey. And last, teach your journey to help others find their way.” To learn more about Dr. Weinstein visit her website at: http://www.drmargotweinstein.com/
