The Cornell Program in Real Estate welcomes David Schaefer, Managing Director and Head of Citigroup Property Investors (CPI), Asia-Pacific, to the Real Estate Industry Seminar this Thursday, April 5. Citigroup and Schaefer have been in the news as of late on the heels of having raised $1.2B for real estate investment in Asia, and via a case study approach, Schaefer will share the opportunities and challenges in fund sourcing and international real estate investment, as well as insights into investment/development projects in Korea, India, and China.

CPI manages CPI Capital Partners Asia L.P., a real estate private equity fund with a focus on investments in the emerging markets of China and India. CPI manages $8.5B gross of real estate investments through offices in New York, Los Angeles, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Mumbai.

Prior to joining CPI, Schaefer was an Executive Director and Head of Property-Asia for the Macquarie Bank group. Schaefer was Chairman of Macquarie Asia Property Advisers, which managed the Schroder Asian Properties real estate opportunity fund. He holds an MBA from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University, a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell, and is a member of the Cornell Real Estate Council.
