Boyd Stofer to Lead Entrepreneurship Symposium Panel

Cornell Program in Real Estate Advisory Board member Boyd Stofer ’71, President and CEO of United Properties, will be leading a symposium panel at the upcoming Entrepreneurship@ Cornell Celebration, April 19-20. The two day event is open to all and will feature industry leaders from diverse backgrounds including real estate, hospitality, agriculture, and food and life sciences.
Stofer joined United Properties in 1978 and has led the growth and diversification of the firm to its current market leading position. United Properties is a privately held real estate investment, development and services company based in the Twin Cities with activities in multiple property types including office, industrial, retail, healthcare and residential. The company provides a broad array of services to commercial real estate investors, corporate users, and residential customers. During his career at United Properties, Stofer has evolved from entrepreneurial developer to enterprise leader. Under his direction, United Properties has become the premier, full-service real estate firm in the Upper Midwest. In 2004, United Properties was named National Developer of the Year by the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), this association’s highest recognition.
Stofer was formerly with the Hines Interests in Houston, Texas, a major national real estate developer. He is a past local president and past national board member of NAIOP. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the Editorial Advisory Board of the Minnesota Real Estate Journal, and is a Governor of the National NAIOP Foundation. Stofer also serves as a board member of several organizations including: NorthMarq Capital; St. Paul Capital City Partnership; the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities; and the Trust for Public Land. In 1999, he received the President’s Award of Excellence from NAIOP, the organization’s highest individual award.
Stofer graduated from Cornell in 1971 with a degree in engineering. He went on to receive his master’s of business administration from Harvard Graduate School of Business in 1975.
