Job Placement

“The Cornell Program in Real Estate prepared me well for an international career in real estate. The knowledge and capabilities that I gained put me a step ahead of the competition, and I have come to appreciate the demanding curriculum and professionalism required by the program even more.”

Jessica Pitts (MPS/RE’08)
Management Trainee
ING Real Estate
The Netherlands

The second year of the program switches focus from obtaining a summer internship to finding a full-time position after graduation. Some students will want to seek a permanent position in the company where the interned; others will broaden their search and revive old contacts. In the second year, you will continue to refine your job-search skills, incorporating the work experience of your first year into an updated resume and speaking knowledgeably about the field to potential employers.

Salaries vary within the industry, but in general the opportunities and compensation for men and women who have earned a Master of Professional Studies in Real Estate degree are competitive with those for graduates of comparable professional master's programs. Other options for individuals with a master's degree in real estate include positions with private investment firms, nonprofit organizations, and public development agencies.

Employers

More than 40 companies hired graduates of the Program between 2004 and 2008. In addition, several graduates returned to work at family-owned enterprises. Jobs are located across the US and internationally, with no single city or area attracting a majority of graduates – truly a Program that extends via its graduates globally.
