Placement Services

The Program in Real Estate generates contacts and interviews with major employers in the real estate industry. Through events such as career forums, conferences, and special lectures, our students have the opportunity to make connections and conduct career research that will be prove valuable to your career search.

The 1000-member Real Estate Council, composed of Cornell alumni and friends working in the real estate field, provides another resource for guidance, networking, and placement. Members of the council are involved as professionals in all aspects of real estate including finance, development, law, investment, management, architecture, planning, and consulting. Together they provide extensive support to faculty members and students. At the beginning of each year, Career Services compiles a recruiter’s guidebook that contains student profiles and resumes. Copies are furnished to Real Estate Council members and other companies that recruit from the Program in Real Estate.

Many students begin their long-range career planning almost as soon as they arrive on campus. Through telephone conversations, letters, and interviews, they learn their way around the industry. You should expect to aggressively pursue companies where you would like to work. Connecting with program alumni who have taken career paths similar to the one you are planning can also be useful and provide insight as to how to position yourself in the industry.
