The Cornell Master of Professional Studies in Real Estate (MPS/RE) program is at once comprehensive, specialized, and flexible. A comprehensive required core insures that students understand real estate from the variety of perspectives—developer, owner, investor, financier, operator, and user—and from the discipline foundations – architecture, construction management, development, finance, investment and deal structuring, law, transactions, property management, urban economics and planning—that apply in the industry. The result is broad, professionally-educated graduates equipped to provide leadership across the real estate industry.
"The interdisciplinary approach of the PRE curriculum and my experience at Cornell have enabled me to successfully advance my career at a company that overlaps three industries. PRE equipped me with versatile problem solving tools and taught me how to apply my knowledge in an evolving and fast paced business environment. The relationships I have made and the skills I learned at Cornell have propelled me to be well poised to lead in a dynamic global market place."

Internships play a vital role during the summer following the 1st year in enhancing student’s prior background or providing a critical foundation of experience for career changers. Internships are also typically aligned with student’s chosen areas of specialization, which are completed during the program’s 2nd year and draw from Cornell’s extensive offering of real estate-related.
A Two-Year Immersion
When you commit to two years of graduate study in real estate at Cornell, you give yourself the time to understand the industry and plan a career. A two-year program allows you to gain a comprehensive understanding of real estate, develop a specialty in depth, and gain valuable work experience with a summer internship. One-year degree programs invariably focus on a few aspects of real estate to the exclusion of others. The connection between theory and industry practice is a consistent emphasis of the program. Students work together on real-world case studies and other projects to understand and appreciate real estate principles and arrive at reality-based solutions. The student-generated internship opportunity during the summer between the first and second year of study provides a chance to integrate classroom learning with real-world practice and to learn from industry professionals.
