Dual Degree
Cornell’s real estate dual degree programs can open up opportunities
The Program of Real Estate in partnership with the Johnson Graduate School of Management offers two formal dual degree options leading to the Master of Professional Studies in Real Estate (MPS-RE) and Master of Business Administration (MBA). Additionally, students interested in completing dual degrees in real estate and Law, Planning, Landscape Architecture, Hotel Administration and select other areas should contact the Program in Real Estate for more information.
The MBA/MPS-Real Estate dual degree programs provide the opportunity for real estate-focused students to obtain a comprehensive real estate education while at the same time obtaining the general management foundation provided by Cornell’s nationally-recognized MBA program. The dual-degree is advantageous for those students seeking greater depth in both MBA and Real Estate graduate studies; students acquire all the foundations of managerial practice as well as immersion in a real estate curriculum. Graduates of the dual degree program typically pursue real estate career paths similar to graduates of the MPS in Real Estate program, although participating fully in both programs increases a student’s exposure to and flexibility in pursuing future employment options.
Admission
All applicants to the dual degree programs must apply separately to both the Program in Real Estate and the Johnson Graduate School of Management. The GMAT, required of both programs, a completed application form, transcript, and recommendations must be sent to each program. The Program in Real Estate will accept letters of reference and the statement of purpose submitted to the MBA program as part of your admissions application to real estate.
Dual degree students must
- • meet each program’s application deadline and fulfill all admissions requirements
- • be admitted by both programs (admissions decisions are made independently by each program)
- • accept admittance to both programs
If you are already enrolled in the MBA program, you may still apply to Program in Real Estate and, upon admissions, be formally admitted to the dual degree program.
